Bone grafting and Bone augmentation for dental implants - Not enough bone?

B     Bone Grafting or Bone Augmentation

N   Not enough bone?

B    Bone deficiency:
·        During earlier stage of implant dentistry ,bone grafting was used for bone deficiency.
·        Basal implants,,pterygoid implants and zygomatic implants are the indications for bone augmentation and they avoid the use of bone grafting procedures  .
·        For these techniques original cortical bone is more than enough for implant placement and also for immediate loading of the teeth.

Bone grafts Disadvantages:

It is very expensive.

I t is not as strong as original bone.

They may get infected during healing.

It can increase treatment duration.

Multiple visits are needed.
